Caring for your tie-dye apparels
Everyday use
Our cotton and linen textiles are designed for regular use—whether worn as garments or displayed as noren. These natural fibers are breathable, durable, and comfortable against the skin. Over time, they soften with wear, developing a lived-in texture that reflects their handmade character. Slight creases and tonal shifts are part of their charm, especially in pieces shaped by traditional dyeing techniques.
Washing
To preserve colour and fabric integrity, wash separately or with similar tones—especially during the first few washes. It’s normal for excess dye to release into the wash liquor early on, especially with naturally dyed cotton and linen. This doesn’t affect the final colour of the textile, but it may tint the water noticeably. Use cold water and a gentle, colour-safe detergent, and avoid bleach, harsh chemicals, or fabric softeners. For garments, turn inside out before washing to reduce friction. Hand-washing is ideal for noren or decorative pieces, while machine washing on a gentle cycle suits most apparel.

Drying
Air drying is recommended to maintain softness and prevent shrinkage. Lay flat or hang in a shaded area—avoid direct sunlight for extended periods, as it may cause fading. Ironing is optional; if needed, use a warm setting while the fabric is still slightly moist, a steamer can do the job perfectly.
